QueerGam to the Prosecutors: Charge the case as a hate crime

The fourth suspect, Gonzalez "Pato", in the gang rape of a lesbian Richmond resident on Dec. 13 turned himself in to police Thursday afternoon. Gonzalez was booked Thursday afternoon on charges of rape, kidnapping for a sex crime, carjacking and rape in concert, and is being held on $1 million bail, according to Gagan. The brutal attack on the 28-year-old woman took place at about 9:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of Visalia Avenue in the city's Belding-Wood neighborhood, according to police. Pato and three others (arrested earlier) allegedly beat, robbed and sexually assaulted her when she got out of her car, then forced her into the car and took her to a remote area where she was raped. The boys then fled in her car. Prosecutors will ultimately make the decision on whether to charge the case additionally as a hate crime.
