It is believed to be the first such meeting between national gay rights leaders and an incoming administration. During the meeting, activists pressed the team to appoint openly gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender officials to the highest levels of government. Chuck Wolfe, president and CEO of the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund and Leadership Institute, urged serious consideration be given to appointing former Interior Department Assistant Secretary for Policy Management and Budget, John Berry , to a cabinet post.
