The Examiner Opens New Chapter in San Francisco

Before the daily newspaper industry underwent a major structural transformation -- largely, in recent years, by way of new ownership, downsizing or disappearance -- the Sunday editions served as the centerpiece of its journalistic efforts and also as a mirror of its financial fragility. That's why the first appearance of a Sunday San Francisco Examiner this coming weekend is significant, because it is a pronouncement of a belief in this paper's future as well as the introduction of a new product filled with fresh ideas and features. Sundays will never be the same again -- and for newspaper readers (especially the city queers) around the Bay Area, that is a really good thing. The Examiner has been supportive and kind to the LGBT community in the city just like The Village Voice and The NY Blade in New York City.
This feels like "United By Pride, Bound For Equality" for me. Happy reading queers!
