Project SMART is a new, research-based treatment program developed by our team at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. We are funded by the National Institute of Health’s National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) to study ways to improve treatments for gay and bisexual men who are experiencing problems with alcohol, or who simply may be thinking about cutting down on their drinking, but who don’t necessarily want to quit drinking altogether.
Our treatment and research team has extensive experience working with the gay and bisexual community of New York to help men deal with their concerns about drug and alcohol use.
