"Sicko" Health Care

Oh yes... we know that too well. And that's one issue that frustrates us these days. Gay or straight alike. Michael Moore's "Sicko" is indeed opening up a whole new open-season of thinking about changing America’s healthcare system. For us American queers, especially members the LGBT community, should worry about the state-run healthcare?

Michael Moore's film offered several messages. And it is true. America's privately run healthcare system is broken and still breaking apart - piece by piece. Millions of us living in this country are without even a basic health insurance. And millions of us are disgusted by very expensive medical coverage. Why is it so fucked up?

Millions think America should give of us quality healthcare through government-run programs.

Is Michael Moore's film worth seeing? Yes. For the heck of it.

Forget the fact that Michael Moore tries to become the funniest "bad guy" of this country. He is trying to be funny like Margaret Cho and George Carlin. That's ok. Get the real message and move on.

It is true that many countries offer “free” healthcare to their people. Their people can get sick and not worry so much. Here, million Americans without health insurance only receive needed care only when they go to the emergency room.

According to Dale Carpenter, a professor at the University of Minnesota Law School,
given the heavy need for healthcare among those with HIV infection, an expensive, chronic and potentially fatal illness, a question for gay readers is this: are there any special reasons to be concerned about reform?

And given that the gay experience with government has not been happy, should we worry about state-run healthcare?
