In the two decades that same-sex marriage has been on the radar screen in the US, heterosexual divorce rates have declined. Do I think there's a direct correlation?

Some think the factors driving 99 percent of marriages vastly outweigh the impact of an extra 1 percent. It's worth noting, however, that the only state with equal marriage rights has the lowest divorce rate in the country.

Somehow many think these facts will weigh more with most people than hysterical claims that others' decision to settle down and commit to another person will destroy marriage as an institution.
