From Friends of the Annual West Village LGBT Pride Day Free Street Fair and Concert

Dear Ambrose Aban,

Please feel free to email me if you have any questions about
what happened around the cancellation of the
15th annual LGBT NYC Pride Day free street fair and concert.

The non profit organization whose stated responsibility is to
produce this event, has focused their attention on the PAY
events.

This year, people marching in the 38th Annual NYC LGBT
Pride March, will be greeted by the police at the end
instructing them to disperse.

UNLIKE the last 15 years: there will be NO ORGANIZED place for people to get a cold
drink, food, learn about different community groups, purchase
a t shirt, get tested or screened for STD’s, HIV and AIDS,
listen to live performances, and socialize while they wait for hours
for the fireworks.

The only event that this non-profit organization is producing
following the parade is an event that costs $55 and up,
is sold out weeks in advance with no tickets sold at the door,
and is open only to persons age 18 and up.

In effect any one under the age of 18, or anyone over the age of 18
but without the desire to spend $55 to dance is offered NOTHING.

I am confident that if we put pressure on the Mayor’s office
thru the petition I created and emails and the organization
responsible for creating the event, WE WILL have a free
Street fair this year in the West Village on Sunday
June 24 2007 open to everyone regardless of age or economic
status.

Thank you for your help and support!

All best regards,

Nathaniel
